What We Do
Fire Extinguisher Training
Oh no, a fire! Where is the fire extinguisher? Found it, now how do I use it? Having to learn how to use a fire extinguisher during an actual fire emergency could be disastrous. You can actually make a fire worse by using the fire extinguisher incorrectly or even by using the wrong type of fire extinguisher. The law mandates that employers must provide fire extinguisher training to their employees. This type of training not only benefits the employers, but can also benefit everyone in their personal lives too. A comprehensive fire extinguisher training program will provide information on the principles of how a fire operates, basic types of fire extinguishers, and how to use each type. It should provide the participants in the program with the knowledge and confidence to utilize a portable fire extinguisher in the beginning stages of a fire. The training should end with a live (controlled) fire burn which would allow each participant the opportunity to have a hands on experience extinguishing a fire.
Fire extinguishers have a proven record of extinguishing fires when they are used properly. Implementing a training program increases the likelihood of success utilizing this cost effective fire fighting tool. When using a fire extinguisher remember the acronym P.A.S.S., which stands for Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep.
P. - Pull the pin
A. - Aim at the base of the fire
S. - Squeeze the top lever
S. - Sweep side to side
