What We Do
Fire Alarms
Fire Alarm Systems are designed to save lives. They can be as simple as a manual pull station connected to some type of audible alarm to a very sophisticated alarm system that is able to detect fires and automatically sound audible alarms. They can unlock doors, turn on exhaust fans, notify the fire department via the central monitoring station, and a whole host of other functions. It is vitally important that these fire alarm systems be tested & maintained so that all the functions of the alarm system are working properly. Failure of any aspect of an alarm system can cause loss of life.
Fire alarm systems are also designed to operate even with a temporary loss of electrical power. Fire alarm systems have battery backup power that allows the alarm system to function in an emergency. A thorough test will include shutting off the electrical power and allowing the fire alarm control panel to operate from the backup batteries, or attaching a load test device to verify the batteries are within the required specification of voltage and amperage hours. The simplest or most complex alarm systems will fail in time, which is why testing & maintaining them is crucial in keeping these life saving systems working properly.
